Mrs. Tichenor takes time from her busy sched- ule to pose for a picture. Being a good teacher includes finding the time to help students with their individual needs. Everyone enjoys the tempo of dancing at Prom. Being a teacher isn’t always an easy job. Thus is the case with Mrs. Ruth Tichenor. Her contributions to our school are numerous and deeply appreciated. Just 3 short years ago, she first came to AHS to serve as a history instructor. Besides teaching the significance of history and speech to her students, she also finds time to accept extra responsibilities. In the past years she has served as a sponsor for both the Pep Club and the Cheerleaders. This is a very time-consuming job, especially during the win- ter months. In addition, this past year she helped in directing the Jr. Play. Proofreading an entire year- book isn’t an easy job, either; but still Mrs. Tichenor accepted the task. As a grand finale of the year, she and her husband went on the Sr. Trip to serve as chaperones—an often nerve-wracking responsibility. Along with a special note of appreciation from all her students, the EAGLE staff would like to gratefully dedicate this annual to Mrs. Ruth Tichenor. Getting sprayed with whipped cream during a skit is only one example of her being a good sport. Serving as a Cheerleader sponsor. Mrs. Tiche- nor discusses a money-making idea.

A Hope We are the children of an ebbing idealism. Most of us were born in love, raised with prospects and set loose with hesitancy We are not our own person. We are NOW We are our own person to tear-down and reconstruct our own person to prosper and preserve that which will endow those to come. We are our own person to preserve the good, obliterate the evil, and have the strength to distinguish the two. We are our own person to stand amidst the crowd of all HIS children and say “We are all one in the same.” This is not a prophecy. This is a hope. Written by Kathy Gilpin for the Annual Staff 3
