He met his death accidentally in November. By his cheerful life and his friendly disposition, Roger endeared himself to all who knew him. He was a devout Christian boy and set a fine example for all of us by his willingness to do the Master's work. His life will continue to live on--a blessing to all. Senior Classes from 25 high schools in this area had been invited to observe and enjoy the day with the students at Southern. Activities for the day include: both girls, and boysi dashes, volleyball, softball, the high jump, the broad jump, soft- ball throw, football punt, croquet, etc, and last but certainly not least, the crowning of the King and Queen, this yeareKING JAMES HURLEY and QUEEN JANET DUBOIS. Spade Basketball was played on an informal basis atSuuthern this year. The beam played 12 contests, losing 7 and winning 5. Fortunately. a great number ut boys had an opportunity to participate. No boy stood out. The com- petition was a matter of Cooperative effort and engross- ing tun. Those students who played were: Hal Gallop, Hebe: Shreve, Marvin Reynolds, Bobby Allen, Cecil Webb, Roy Richards, Max Taylor, Max Hun, David Hill, Orland Beard, Tom Pitman, Billy Brennan, and Floyd Nix. Although the athletic program is supervised, n is our feeling here at Southern that athlencs should be class- ilied purely as recreation, and not as a must 0: else propositions The boys take part in widely divergent activities, which include volleyball, baseball, shuhau, basketball, horse- shoes, croquet, shullleboard, ping- pong, football, and gymnastim. Another part ui the program was the supervision of recreation at the College City Elementary School. The boys were justly proud 0! their work in this capacity. Until 1951-52, the local school had never experienced directed play. WAITDIG PATIENTLY Two horses and two shoes I insist, Alphonse Here we came! Keep sun! It reaches a total population of approximately 2,soopoo souls. Thousands and thousands of people are reached daily through this medium that cannot be reached any other way. At the present time, more than two hours of religious broadcast daily go out over KRLW. The college carries a full gospel message each day of the week during which the full message of God goes out to the multitudes of the section; Many responses come in from all types of people indicating their appreciation of the message. By this means, it is hoped that thousands may be brought to the Lord and that the Baptist name shall be ingratiated into the life of the territory in a greater and greater fashion.
