Individuals in the sense of communications with fellowmen . . . athletic ability . . . distinguishing talents . . . the desire for learning . . . . . . the ability to form relationships . . . create thoughts that flow without strain or friction . . . and develop skills that strengthen student interest in learnine. Each year the Latin Club sponors Latin Week in order to prove that Latin is not dead. The climax of Latin Week is Slave Day w hen new members are initiated. Other projects include a h.-.ke sale, a banquet, and helping a needy family at Christmas. 31 The Latin Club has their annual banquet. French Club The purpose of the French Club is to provide in- terested students a means of discussing French culture and learning more about the people and language. Activities of the year included presenting a chapel program during National Foreign Language Week, going to a French res- taurant. and seeing a French play. Other objectives of the club are to encourage good citizenship, cultivate social relations, promote clean living, and develop good sportmanship through active participation in service projects. Civitans and Civinettes attend the Duke-Wake Forest ballgame. 39 Junior Cicine ft es The Junior Civincttcs sponsor many aclivitcs and perform many duties which benefit both the school and the community. These projects include selling candy, helping needy families, and taking gifts to the Elon Home for Children. A service club, the Junior Civinettes are sponsored by the Senior Civitan Club of Alamance. The Junior Civinettes set their goals at developing good character and learning to accept responsi- bility. Members must initiate a scientific interest by their scholastic subjects, possess good moral character, and desire to specialize in a science or science-related field Bus Drivers The responsibility of transporting students to and from school rests upon the shoulders of the bus drivers. The overall season record was six wins, three losses, and one tic. The tie came as the highlight of the season when the Confeds managed to hold state-ranked Reidsvillc to a 6-6 stalemate. Led by the running attack of ace Darnell Glover and Ken Smith and the outstanding play of lineman Mike Urscry. the Confeds managed to bring fans out of their seats while they scored touchdowns and held opposing teams to very little yardage.
