“Keynote Life at Southern Missionary College is as varied and colorful as 2,000 personalities can make it. College activities sweep the campus in an endless procession of colors, shapes and sounds. Classes merge with courses, weeks with months, individuals with the group. Like the music of a great orchestra, its har- monies are forever shifting, throbbing, blending, re-emerging in a different form. Every life on the campus contributes its note of joy or indifference, thoughtfulness or courage. But beyond the rush of classes, the tension of dor- mitory life, the fever of extra-curricular plans that shape our days, there must be a place where we can catch the rhythm of living, follow its trend, and in the end discover the theme that dominates every phase of SMC life. The white heat of yesterday’s ideas are today’s memories. SOUTHERN MEMORIES of 1979-1980 has tried to crystallize for you not only the sound and color of campus life, but the motive behind it; not merely its music, but its meaning: Service—the service of love, the simplest and the highest living required by God of any man. As you trace the outward aspects of South- ern Missionary College on these pages, listen for the melody of its aspirations. They are your challenge— and your memories.
