The traditional Christmas tree lighting was held on a cold clear evening after Thanksgiving vacation. Due to the weatherman’s mis- taken prediction of bad weather, most of the fes- tivities were held indoors. Everyone sang carols in the spirit of the holiday. Santa Claus, alias Ken Rogers, ar- rived to throw candy over the audience, and have the pretty girls sit on his knee. Doughnuts and hot choco- late kept everyone warm outside by the lighted Christmas tree.

Judy Martin and Melanee Snowden hosted Music at the Palace, the SA talent program. It was an evening of fine entertainment—music, comedy and drama—a display of the artistic talent inside SMC’s serious scholars.
