Visits were made to Sasebo on the island of Kyushu and Yokosuka on the island of Honshu. 'lhe tourists' picture of Japan is often onc.0f gcishas posed on arching bridges or ofquaml villages with picturesque surroundings of rice paddies and mountains. Many are sur- prised to find Japan so modern in appear- ance.
