A YEAR OF REJOICE IN THE LORD As Southeastern’s Fiftieth An- niversary approaches we can re- joice in the school, but let us also rejoice in the Lord daily. The joy of the Lord is our strength. When we think about what we've come through to where we are right now in the Lord, each of us will find that we have much to be thankful for. Thank Him for His presence when He seems far away. Thank Him for His guidance that leads us to righteousness. Thank Him for His unfailing love when no one else cares, and His wonderful deeds when we need a special touch. Thank Him for His provisions, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry. Thank Him for the victory in the midst of the battle. Thank Him for His sal- vation so rich and free. The list of things to be thankful about is end- less but I Thessalonians 5:16-18 sums it up well. “Be joyful always, rie ¥ yee | pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

A YEAR OF REJOICE IN FRIENDSHIP When we look back at the years that we have spent at Southeast- ern, some of the most im portant memories that we will have will be of the special friendships that we made. Memories of the craziness of dorm life, lighthearted pranks, sil- ly jokes and frivolity will go with us. But more precious will be the friendships that made us grow as both humans and as Christians. Memories of prayer partners on our halls, encouraging hugs, get- well cards, and secret conversa- tions about a confidential sweet- heart. Some of us will make a friend and decide to keep him or her around for the rest of our lives. Many of us will have met our spouses here by the time that we graduate. Even if we leave without a spouse, we will still have strong friendships to rejoice in. We will have friends who have seen us as we really are, who know our inse- curities and fears, and yet love us still. Let us remember to give God thanks for friendship.
