Can you imagine spending over 40 years being directly concerned and involved with the lives, careers, problems and pursuits of high school age boys and girls? Do you ever wonder about the dramatic changes that have taken place in the world of education during the span of 40 years? Some of you will not realize or understand how the problems of young people have changed over such a period of time. I can tell you that Mr. Bumpus knows about these things. He has directed his entire working career to all of the concerns outlined above. Such a man deserves far more than the concerns outlined above. Such a man deserves far more than the often used Thank you for a job well done. Rather, he deserves the deep and sincere heartfelt gratitude of all of those whose lives he has touched. This represents thousands of people. Speaking for those thousands of the past and for the hundreds of students, parents and colleagues of the present, we are pleased to attempt to convey a sense of appreciation which words are too shallow to describe. With the most sincere thoughts of commendation and congratulations, we dedicate this book to the Director of the Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Mr. Ralph G. Bumpus.
