In Remembrance Of ... James L. Pudgy Bowers 1928-1982 James L. Bowers was better known to all the students, faculty and staff as “Pudgy,” a good man with a kind heart. He loved fishing, hunting, teaching, his students, and, most especially, his family. It was his love of fishing that lured he and a friend, Rev. Weldon Lasater, away on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. He told his class, “I’ll see you Friday” and left with a cheery wave. It glance through an open classroom window at the flags and remember some kind deed done by Mr. Bowers or Dr. Wade. A Dedication: The students and faculty of Southeastern dedicate this book to the memories of James Bowers and Frank Wade. Frank Wade 1938-1982 Dr. Frank Wade was known as a giant among men — not only in stature, but mainly in heart. He loved life and lived it to its fullest — enjoying the company of his students and his family. He gave much of his time to the improvement of relations for international students and often would be found helping a lonely student far from home. He was devoted to his family. He would smile when anyone mentioned their names and say, “I’m proud of them.” He was going to his father who was very ill when Dr. Wade died. Although he is no longer with us, a spark of Dr. Wade remains in the lives of his friends who value their memories of this good man. 5
