In Remembrance Of ... James L. Pudgy Bowers 1928-1982 James L. Bowers was better known to all the students, faculty and staff as “Pudgy,” a good man with a kind heart. He loved fishing, hunting, teaching, his students, and, most especially, his family. It was his love of fishing that lured he and a friend, Rev. Weldon Lasater, away on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. He told his class, “I’ll see you Friday” and left with a cheery wave. But for the friends, Friday never came. “Pudgy” and his friend were found murdered not far from eo favorite fishing spot near Antlers.
