Phone home Just like E.T., many college students “phoned home” every chance they got. It could have been to tell Mom hello or Dad about that special someone. The phone also served as a link to the stomach — calling in orders to the pizza place or the drive-ins. The phone also makes a great study center as students would compare notes from the comfort of their armchairs. 26 WALKS

Ocean Pacific shirts are everywhere the dis- criminating college student goes — to the mar- ket, the post office, or even on trips to the ocean. The student who “goes with the flow'' found Ocean Pacific to be the only thing to wear for nearly all occasions. Relaxation Playing pool or just hanging around — relaxation took many forms around campus. Students could drop in the game room or coffee shop for visiting friends. They could swim laps in the pool or just daydream under the magnolias. Quiet walks with friends around the campus let many students find peace and relax- ation. It gave them time to calm down after a hectic day or to walk off a heavy meal at the cafeteria. A quiet walk gave some couples time to find out about each other. 57
