No matter how many of you contribute effort to this book, no matter how hard Rodney and Pe and the others on the staff work, when 1 comes down to the day when you begin to find fault wi the book and discover the two million, five dred thousand mistakes we're bound to make, I'm the one everyone is going to suggest tar-and feathering. But don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade jobs with a one of you. If you're wondering why I have doodled foot prints all over this letter, I'll tell you. t 1 my own inspired way of introducing the theme of the book to you. Throughout the book you're goi to see the feet that make these prints. They are everybody's feet in general and your feet in par ticular. They are the feet that will lead the world of tomorrow. Where these feet go they do is up to you but rememb ,'going to be followin- 'responsibil' and and What er--the world s g you. It's a frightening ity but one that we have to face up to we shall face up to it. l1'e're not really the 'heat' generation, we're a generation that's going places. These feet are going to stand in Congress, the United Nations, at Cape Canavera and on the moon! SPIRIT . . . It means different things to different people . . . here we're not only talking about the frenzy of a cheerleader at a big game . . . we're talking about the Spirit that lives everyday in everything we do on campus . . . the class spirit that drives us to stay up all night the week before Homecoming in hopes of beating out the other classes . . . the school spirit that wells up and makes us want to fight if somebody makes a dig at Southeastern . . . the personal spirit that drives us to col- lege to accomplish something, to better ourselves through education . . . this is the spirit that makes 'a college a campus where We want to live rather than one we merely tolerate . . . this is the spirit of Southeastern. --1--qs-. -. ..,. q...1....-....-..f,,.....- . ,...- ,, ,. -
