A QUICK GLANCE AT THE '55 SEASON. . . As far as victories were concerned the ’55 Savage football season was below average but a second look reveals a different slant. There were three victories, over Ouachita, Ardmore AFB, and the 3-2 thriller over East Central in the home- coming game. The strong Memphis Naval Air Station was tied 20-20. In four successive games the Savages lost ty scores 13-2, 13-6, 13-7 and 14-6. Any or all of these games could have been victories with a favorable break. Lack of experience and depth were the prime reasons Coach Dave Stevens' charges failed to finish higher on the conference ladder. Hard hit by graduation in the spring of '55, Coach Sullivan began working with eight lettermen and eight freshmen. Three key men were lost during the year and the team showed the strain of playing without enough experienced men.
