Doctor Donald C Wetmore . To You, We Dedicate The l985 Scrimshaw . . I985 SCRIMSHAW DEDICATION We, the Class of l985, proudly dedicate this year 's SCRIMSHA W to Dr. Donald Cameron Wetmore. During his fifteen years as a member of the faculty of the College of Business and lndustry, Donald Wetmore, familiarly known by his stu- dents as 'Doc was a man whose accomplishments ga ve recognition to both his abilities as well as his contributions. He rose in rank to become Professor of Management, Chairman of the Department of Management, creator of the Human Resources Management major and President of the University 's Faculty Senate. The essence of the man, however, was best summed up and conveyed in the prose of a citation presented to Dr. Wetmore this past May at the annual Honors Con vocation dinner when he was chosen to receive the Student Senate 's DISTINGUISHED SER VICE TO UNI VERSI TYA WARD. Because we feel that the words of that citation express most fully our sentiments for the man, we herewith offer it as our dedicatory statement. Yankee gentleman. Your courtly grace, polished speech, intellectual wit and gentle humor ha ve made you a figure of popular affection among the many who ha ve known you as teacher. Your practical nuts and bolts approach to teaching made your classroom a place where theory was to be tested against reality and where freedom combined with flexibility served as stimuli to the creative response. As an encourager, a giver, a wise mentor and friend, you have been to generations of students a source of steady strength and a bridge over the sometimes troubled waters of our emerging adulthood. For all these reasons and more, we the students at Southeastern Massachusetts University pay you tribute. 26
