Dr. Driscoll, President of Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, is known for his power of persuasion. He is known to get things done and to get them done right. Dr. Driscoll has stood steadfast against all opposition by those who have wished to alter the new campus. More important, he has insisted that Southeastern Massachusetts Technologi- cal Institute be permitted to offer the best possible educational opportunity. If one were to look back into Dr. Driscollls personal records, he would find that Dr. Driscoll's great interest in education seemed to have come rather suddenly. As Mr. Dris- coll, he served in W'orld Wai' II as a Marine pilot in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge, he had reached the rank of Captain. Going through the war he seems to have come to know that education is the substitute for ignorance and to have decided it his duty to do something about it. Hence came his decision to go to Harvard University undergraduate and graduate schools. In 1952 he received his B.A. In 1953 he received his Masters, showing a continu- ing drive for education. He was granted a teaching fellowship at Harvard and in 1957 he received his Doctorate. Soon thereafter he became a teacher and coach at Needham, Massachusetts. Following this, he took a position at Boston College as Administrator and teacher. He was in his fifth year at Boston College when he was called to Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute. Dr. Driscoll, teacher and administrator, now heads Southeastern Massachusetts Tech- nological Institute. With his forcefulness, his unswerving drive, along with his foresight and experience, Dr. Driscoll is the very leader needed to make Southeastern Massachu- setts Technological Institute grow in stature and reputation. I
