Panhellenic rush 1974 opened with a cookout party. At this gathering rushees were told all about rush. Following this first session, each sorority held its own Get-Acq- uainted Party. Once again rushees had a chance to meet with members of specific organizations. Then followed Skit Parties. Alpha Sigma Tau held “Rock-Around-the- Clock;” Phi Mu called its party “Gold Rush;’’ Alpha Omicron Pi held a “Recipe Party;’’ and Sigma Sigma Sigma took guests to “Alice in Sig- maland.” Preference parties were next on the busy agenda. Finally, rush week ended on Friday when the coeds received their bids. activities 21

Fraternity Rush SLU’s six fraternities opened the year with traditional rush activities. An early highlight was the Inter-fra- ternity Council sponsored keg party held in the Student Union. Following this introduction to Greek life, smokers were spotlighted with prospective Greeks getting an opportunity to meet individual mem- bers. At individual rush parties, rushees were given additional opportunity to find the organization which best suited their own needs. 22 activities
