All sor- ority rushees checked in early in order to attend the tirst maior event, the Panhellenic Tea. This was held the Sunday betore regis- tration to acquaint the rushees with each sorority. Cn the Saturday and Sunday tollowing registration, each sorori- ty held its own Formal Tea at the home ot an alumnus or at a reli- gious center. These teas gave the sorority members a chance to tormally meet the rushees. A week ot parties tollowed, be- ginning with the lntormal Parties. such as Alpha Sigma Tau's Tahitian Party and Phi lvlu's Gold Rush Party. The rushees attended these by invitation only. The Preterence Parties, also invitational attairs, were next on the agenda. At this time the rushees narrowed their choice ot sororities by attending only two ot the tour parties. On Friday ot that week, the rushees signed preterence sheets stating their tirst and second choices ot sororitiesg while within the sororities, each member voted by secret ballot titteen rushees on tirst and second choice sheets. Neither members nor rushees knew the verdict until Saturday morning when torty-eight girls re- ceived bids in sealed envelopes in the Student Union. Acceptance Parties tollowed at which time pledges were present- ed ribbons and were welcomed into the sororities, lt was truly a rushed week with many activities and very little sleep tor all involved, but it is also a never-to-be-torgotten part ot the campus scene.
