Betty Jane Moeller and Marion Taup placed on the All-City Hockey Team. . Under their new coach, Miss Hyne, the Girls' Basketball Team had a success- ful season. Owing to the new ruling that no City Championship games would be played, Southeastern lost her chance at a good showing for the city title. The Girls',Swimming Team started off with a flash this year and by continuing their good work tied for City Championship. The girls',spring sports have not as yet been organized but with the aid of the coaches and much good material it looks like a very successful season. Southeastern had a fairly successful foo-tball season this year. VVe played nine games, losing four, tieing one and winning four. Captain Edgar David, play- ing his last year, proved himself the most valuable man on the team, and secured for himself the position of center on the All-City Team. The team as a whole played good ball and we have high hopes for next season. This year Southeastern was represented by an outstanding Cross-Country Team. Our team won every meet in which it participated by a wide margin. In the city meet it took third place, being nosed out by two teams which it had de- feated earlier in the season. Coach Nester hopes to have a championship team next year. Basketball has been one of the most successful branches of Southeastern ath- letics. Out of sixteen games played the Purple and XVhite squad bowed to defeat only three times. Only one of these defeats was administered in a league con- test, coming from Hamtramck. the City Champions. Ford Moorels brilliant scor- ing ability won many games for us. The team amassed more total points, more field goals, and threw more fouls, than did their opponents, showing that on the whole they played a more brilliant game than did the enemy. Captain James Gilhula led the Swimming Team through a very successful sea- son. Captain Cwilhula was the outstanding star of the team. During the past year Gilhula set a national interscholastic record in the one luindred-yard free style. The team won most of the duel meets but placed only two men in the city meet. The Reserve Basketball Team went through the season with a clean slate. The team won every game in which it participated by a wide margin. Coach Nester should be congratulated on the line showing of his team. Southeastern's Track Team, under the able coaching of Coach Richard Stuckey, is improving each year. The team this year was the best witnessed in Southeastern for some time. The team had no outstanding stars but made a good showing in the duel meets. A little more material for the held events should make the jungaleers a strong contender for City Championship 11ext year. fs.. . n . s 'ess' A f.1.- H1 1 gli l Eff' QQ X ,, j L, ,jk One Hundred Eighteen Aa E igygglil gill 25? 1 1523 E I J... 1 HHIHUBHS 1 , ----- .- .L...T. --, 1 1- 1 - Ti-' IL YE OLDE Jan., E ' 1 S..
