Since its establishment in 1935, South- eastern Bible College has gradually but steadily 'grown as an institution training young men and women to serve jesus Christ. Beginning as a night school, and now a well- established Bible college with an enrollment of over one hundred-eighty potential full-time workers for Christ, South- eastern is proud of its heritage. The administration, composed of the faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees, seeks to maintain the purpose of the college and simultaneously initiate new methods and ideas necessary for smooth and efficient opera- tion of the college. Improvement of present facilities and the addition of new ones symbolize the administration's evident anticipation of future years. uw...n-as-Q-Q-9... . ,. rf' 1-. TI -ur' vw, -nv 425:19-,L F, 35.5. Bible College students, perhaps more than any others, have a real purpose in gaining a college education: they come with the vision of serving Christ effectively. Southeastern classes are geared to prepare students to real- ize that vision. Every class begins with a prayer of dedica- tion to God and dependence upon the Holy Spirit. The content of the classes provide an education that is well- balanced, Biblically sound, of high intellectual quality, that avails the student an opportunity to practice the truths and principles he learns, and one that prepares him thoroughly for future ministry . . . These friends have been a vital part of its development from the Fifth Avenue building, to the present- day modern buildings. It is because of these people that we are obtaining an edu- cation. We owe each of them a debt which we cannot repay. They have given of their prayers, their concern, their finances in order that we may study the Word of God in attractive classrooms under qualified professors. On this campus new directives of life have been discovered and new personal goals for achievement have been established. This has happened because of the many and varied contri- butions of Southeastern Bible Collegeis patrons. It is to these people, the friends of the college, that we dedicate the 1968 GATEWAY. A college campus isa small community within itself. Because of its exclusive nature, it demands a governmental organization com- prised of its citizenry. The Student Council is that organization, and acts as mediator between faculty and students. As a representa- tive body consisting of four elected officers, resident hall represen- tatives, and student organization presidents, it meets weekly to prayerfully consider pertinent problems and ideas involved in cam- pus life. The Student Council has consistently made noticeable strides in promoting the social and spiritual life on campus through sponsorship of school projects, recitals, socials, and many varied activities of mutual importance to the school and its stu- dents. Its aims are to directly introduce the student body to the various facets of the Christian Day School, and to impress upon the students of our college, and eventually other Christian colleges, the needs and opportunities for students interested in the Christian Day School and the current Chris- tian Day School movement. Under the sponsorship of Miss Polly Machin, the Comenius Club endeavors to fulfill its aims through special speakers, Cxhibits, literature, and educational conventions directly related to Christian Day Schools and the NACS. Therefore, under the sponsorship ofthe college, the Married Couples Fellowship was or- ganized in 1960. Each successive year since that time, couples have enjoyed informative programs and con- structive leisure times together. Visiting missionaries and other field workers have often been guest speakers at MCF meetings, transmitting vital information concerning expectations of future service. Informal hours around the supper table have given many couples joy of Christian fellowship. Under the direction of Dr. Roy Matheson, MCF meets approximately every six weeks in homes of various members. November 24, 1967, MCP sponsored a school-wide program that proved interesting, informative, and very beneficial to every student in attendance. ' MCF members face the future with warm courage and high hopes, knowing that God is with them, and confident of adequate academic and practical training. . 1 awe, Q ,SL 'fit' , JM 4 f Q Q, 'N 1 I 1, 'xx C4 A l 4 5 -. Local concerts, week-end engagements, and the annual spring tour provide opportunities to present the Gospel to many people, both in song and in personal testimony. In reaching youths, the most effective motivational opportunity in past years has been the an- nual Youth Conference, where young people have had the opportunity to experience college campus life. Wliile here they were challenged to dedicate their lives totally to Christ. Approximately two hundred and fifty young people from up to fifteen states attend Southcastern's Youth Conference annually. About twenty per cent of the current Freshman class is here as a direct result of the witness they received while at Youth Conference. In March of 1967,jay Kesler, Vice-President ofPersonnel for Youth for Christ International, challenged the hearts of these senior highs and college-agers. Full-time evangelist Mike Cocoris of Chattanooga, Ten- nessee was the speaker for this year's Conference. 58 IQ, Q 'nn I --' N. E STUDENTS One may ask, What kind of peo- ple would attend a Bible College?,' What is a Bible College like?', These are only two of the many questions that I expect the GATE- WAY to answer. In the pages of this publication you have seen but a page from the life of a bible college student. We hope you like it. I trust that this yearbook will be fruitful in every respect to the glory of God. carol kapff editor
