Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. lt is the will of God that every true believer in His Son, Jesus Christ, should be a man or woman of God. Southeastern, through a well-balanced spiritual, academic, social, and athletic program, seeks to accomplish the will of God by pro- ducing men and women who are dedicated to Him. . The world today is searching for something-something to which they can cling and upon which they can rely. Such a search can be satisfied only in the Person of Christ, in Whom dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. A man of the world can see this reality of life in Christ as he beholds the daily walk of a Spirit-led Christian. The l963 GATEWAY presents a five-fold description of MEN OF GOD and relates this description to the students and faculty. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him . . . - S?-Y'-I-T'-'riqfq-77-TQ?-17.-it'f -:--cvs wr aa- 's HWVK' 'PF' -2.-J. -qc -- -:'Z-'--:v.-Pr--: A.-.-.evw::?rb:EQ -H-3M?mS5f 553 16 28 36 46 64 82 Editor CoIossiar1S 2:6 wg.. Psalms 18:32 ME In physical activities as in spiritual service, the man of God has a goal in mind - that of glorifying his Lord. By striving toward excellence in sports, he is better able to under- stand the meaning of striving for an incorruptible crown. The outstanding performance of an athlete is dependent upon self-discipline. Paul relates this truth to the spiritual race when he says, I therefore so run, not as uncertainly . . . but I keep under my body and bring it into subjection. As a result of self-discipline a man of God can say at the end of his Christian race, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faithf' 1 N -r- '+ if-F ES.-14 A -VV J L 1 V! However, the man of God cannot afford to live in the shades of night. He seeks to illuminate his life with Christ, the Light of the World, that he might discern the will of God in his daily walk and spiritual growth. Through daily saturation of the living Word of God, a man of God sees life in its proper per- spective, for he progressively becomes acquainted with the Person exalted in the Scriptures. George C owen During the last week of january the first annual combined Bible and Missionary Conference of the College was held. In previous years Bible and Missionary conferences had been separate, regular day classes meeting as usual. This year, with the two conferences held simultaneously during the same week, no regular College classes were scheduled. In this Way, students were able to give much closer attention to the spiritual emphasis of the sessions, with a better opportunity to sense the impact such emphasis might have upon their personal lives. Much -was accomplished in the hearts of those who attended. The Bible speaker for the Conference was Dr. Paul R. Van Gorder, pastor of the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. The Rev. George Cowan, President of Wycliffe Bible Translators, was the main missionary speaker. Also participating in meet- ings were Rev. and Mrs. Elden C. Whipple, China Inland Mis- sion, Rev.
