16 Cert! M al In November, a re-creation of century-old clothing styles and traditions occurred on SEMO's campus. Through the efforts of the University Choir and Golden Eagles Band a halftime show was performed which was reminiscent of days gone by. Centennial ac- tivities continued into December with a special program com- memorating the hundredth anniversary of the first day of classes at Southeast Missouri Normal School. The keynote speaker for the occasion was Dr. John H. Fischer, president of the Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City. Rather than dwelling on past achievements, Dr. Fischer considered current problems in higher education in respect to teacher education.
