Learning experiences, as well as other opportunities for both intellectual and social growth, often leave a student in a state of frustra- tion. Wh ' ' T ' ' en a student finds himself in such a dilemna, he must turn to the proper person for as- sistance so that his academic goals will be channeled in the right direction. This is the inherent role of the Student Personnel Service: it exists solely for the purpose of aiding the student in ainin th g g e maximum educational benefits from his complete college endeavors. As Dean of Students, it is a rare occa- sion indeed when Dean Walker can be found alone in his office. Dean Walker is required to be present at numerous affairs concerning every aspect of col- lege life. Each student is of utmost importange to the Dean ofStudents. Checking on a student's file is another of Dean Walk- er's many tasks. Dean of Students, Carroll D. Walker, has served in this capacity since 1961. In 1951, he received his B.S. in Education from Murray State University and his M.S. in Education in 1961 from Southern Illinois University. Dean Walker's varied activities range from being advisor to IFC to enjoying a friendly game of golf. The role of Dean of Stu- dents is an important one on our campus, and from-it both unfor- tunate and rewarding experiences may develop. The campus is for- tunate that Dean Walker is not only efficient but friendly in his role. Relaxing after a heated debate in a Student Senate meeting, Dean Walker discusses problems in student government with the Student Body President. Dean Walker assists the Student Senate as Administrative Advisor. xx Thinking deeply over the problem at hand, Dean Walker pauseg trying to find the proper solution. Many decisiong mlust e made by the man holding his position - deqigiong w ich can often change the lives ofstudents.
