Buried behind the impressive facade of the ex- panded Kent Library lies the original gray stone building Which served the college for almost thirty years. The original building has been encircled with additions in all directions except north. The build- ing has been extended 141 feet south, 67 feet east, and 55 feet West. The original front of the library has been concealed by a grill and the entire front of the new structure is protected by a spacious loggia supported by columns. The building is decorated with the names of the same authors inscribed around the old Kent Library with one minor change: the modern spelling of Shakespeare is used instead of the old form which omits the av in the second syl- lable.

Library Staff No building, however beautiful or efficiently equipped, makes a good li- brary alone. ln addition to equipment, space, facilities, and, of course, books, a library must be adequately stalled. It is the human element that turns a good physical plant into a good library, and Kent Library is indeed fortunate to have a fine staff. The librarians are not only efficient and courteous, but are friendly people eager to help turn the library into a comprehensible facility that is us- able to those of us who are not trained in library science.
