Few of us are aware that Oklahoma City schools are bulging at the seams with 65,998 students attending classes every day. Two thousand two hundred sixty-two teachers and 98 schools, plus some 232 administrative positions are required to provide city students the best education possible. Several hundred counselors, nurses, librarians, office clerks, and secretaries are listed on the school payrolls. Around 600 cafe- teria employees and 297 custodians complete the roster of school personnel. Oklahoma City is fortunate to have a superintendent and school board who recognize the seriousness of operating this rapidly growing school system. Our students and citizens should be proud of and grateful to these civic minded people who give so much of their time and energy for the betterment of our schools. OTTO F. THOMPSON Ward ll W. F.
