ln classrooms, in activities, we worked and learned together. We ate lunch, went to meetings and games, and studied together. Each day we learned a little more about get- ting along with people. Gary Barton, Sybil Graystone, Kathryn Ball, and Larry Clayton enioy the last few minutes of their lunch hour with a friendly chat. Mr. Snyder lends a helping hand to Ben Hunter as the auto Out of this, friendships developed, deep and permanent, resulting in the all-important feeling of belonging, an imperative need of every human being. SE's halls hum with the throb of everyday life as students pursue different dreams, am- bitions, and desires. They turn the hollow building into something alive, something almost human. 4 :N l Man, but some seniors get big-headed! exclaims Lu Ellis Brown. Olen Lane agrees as Kenneth Alexander tries in vain to fit her cap on Ralph Griffin's head. Footprints are now beginning to wear in places at Southeast in this its eleventh year. Its worthy traditions, its ideals of honor, the loyalty of its constituents, its outstanding achievements in a great variety of activities have won for SE the place of honor and prestige which it enioys among city and state high schools. ln addition to the Spartans who have brought recognition to our school academically and sportswise, every student who has crossed SE's threshold has made his mark in contributing to its heritage. We have paid homage to the old traditions as well as establishing new ones in this progressive, forward looking school. Cowabunga, and all that kind of stuff. Pledge Linda Hankins wincingly salutes under the stern gaze of pledge mistress Pat Ford. Traditional when sock hops are held in the gym are shoe- less feet and piles of shoes belonging to who knows whom? 9
