Here at SE, demo- :ratic ideals and patterns of life have been well emphasized. We have been taught to recognize the rights, responsibilities and privileges of our American heritage, as well as our perpetual need for divine guidance. Regardless of the extent of one's ac' tivities or contributions to school life, each student always leaves some influence upon school traditions. Each also gleans values which are perpetuated throughout life. We shall always look back upon our school life with mixed emotions, reflecting upon the many rich experiences we've had here. SE was considered a top contender for the newly organized Capital Conference Crown at the beginning of the season. Coaches Condren and Choate had nine returning lettermen and several promising non-lettermen with which to build a squad. Official practice sessions started August 25 with fifty boys reporting twice daily for drills. HARDINC-An enthusiastic Spartan squad opened the season September 13 with a 27-19 victory over the Eagles. SE showed a lot of fight as they overcame a 19-6 halftime deficit. NORTHWEST-A highly spirited SE squad knocked the number one ranking Knights from their top spot as they outgained them in every de- partment except the 20-6 score. Schafer, who scored the lone TD, was lost for the season by a knee injury. CLASSEN-Continuing their winning streak by downing the Comets 27 to 19, SE moved to Oak Stadium where Prichard scored three touch- downs and Robertson added one. JOHN MARSHALL-The Blue and White lost a heartbreaker to the Conference Champs, 19-13. john Arnold and Tommy Yeargain scored the touchdowns. EDMOND-The stubborn Spartans fought INIURIES HOLD SES CRIDMEN TO TWO WINS lauics 'Robertson twists his way through a host of Classen tacklers as Prichard prepares to throw a block. mf the Bulldogs to a 20-20 tie. The game was high- lighted by a 97 yard TD run by Prichard. MIDWEST CITY-The Bombers squeaked out a 20-13 victory over the injury-riddled Spar- tans. Ken Grissom, our mighty-mite Quarterback, was lost for the remaining games with a broken arm. PUTNAM CITY-In a close contest the Pirates downed us 19-7. Hustling fullback Berkly Staton's knee cartilage was broken, eliminating the 160 lb. fireplug for the season. NORTHEAST-This game was extremely costly to the Spartans as the Vikings rolled over them 41-27. Prichard, who scored three touch- downs, injured his knee identically like Staton had done the week before. GRANT-The underrated Generals downed the Spartans 47-20. john Arnold continued to spark the ailing Spartans with two TD's. CAPITOL HILL-The SE squad finished the season November 16, with a record breaking 59-28 defeat by the Redskins. john Arnold com- pleted a creditable three years on SE's gridiron by playing inspired ball. He scored all four touch- downs, Grissom kicked all extra points, finishing the season with a 17 for 24 record on the extra points tries.
