Other courses in this department are metal and wood work, mechanical drawing and printing. Excellent craftsmanship is de- veloped in these well equipped shops. MR FRANK SNYDER MR FRED HOLLOWAY New art classes introduced this year were commercial art, leather and ceramics. Draw- ing, painting and crafts were continued. Stu- dents entered projects in the National Scholas- tic art contest and the Central State Art Festival. In physical education courses we had fun in team and individual sports. zoadcieal Wafaalle mining Convinced that future home makers should know how to cook, sew and balance the budget, we enrolled in home economics. Especially popular was the Griddle Club, a boys, food class. A father was overheard complaining that his boy should not be wasting time in drivers training classg that he could teach him to drive as well. Then, a few months later he changed his mind when he discovered that his son had learned a great deal about the me- chanism of a car and had been convinced that any breach of driving rules was a serious, fool- ish mistake. He also passed tests for his drivers' license. Mrs. Pat Dickinson is the friend of all Southeast students. As head of the school library, she is always ready to help a worried student find a last minute book report, a biography of Lincoln, or a treatise on the housing conditions in Timbuctoo. A major production was the Christ- mas pageant, in which the speech de collaborated with the music department Comprising the instrumental music activi ties are the orchestra, marching band and concert band. Band members have enter- tained us at assemblies and games and also. taken honors at contests. The vocal music department's crowded calendar featured three main musical groups: I Harmonettes, Melody Masters and Melody, Misses. Recognized as one of the outstanding choral groups in the City, our choir has per- formed at civic and school functions. I
