RICKI HANDY MRS MARY E BURDETTE English English gave us a foundation for correct oral and written expression and an apprecia- tion for literature. It was required through- out our six years at Southeast. Successful mastery of these English courses would in- deed provide us with the key to success in any field we could choose. We were able to choose Spanish for the first time this year. Not only did we learn to write and speak Spanish, but we gained a better understanding of our Spanish speak- ing neighbors to the South. The Spartan Shout, a bi-monthly publica- tion, was produced by the journalism class. This elective afforded valuable experience to students interested in newspaper work. Closely connected with this group was the annual class, the members of which had great fun producing this book. MRS. HAZEL CARSON English, Home Economics

In addi- tion to social studies, geography and Oklahoma history for junior high, there was American history for all juniors, and a world problems class was available for seniors only. One pro- ject of this class was a radio forum discussion of our American heritage. An agriculture class was taught for the first time this year. Students enrolled in general science, biol- ogy and chemistry had occasion for practical application when they participated in the school and City science fairs.
