Hard Scrimmage for a Tough Schedule Football The Southeast Spartans began the fall season with seemingl-y all odds against them. No home practice field, no home stadium, no colors, no name, and but little experience. To balancethis, however, theyhada grim determination to make a creditable showing in every game, and they had All American George Franck to guide them, with the splendid help of Bob Condren and Eugene Dipboye. These three men worked - like Spartans - to develop a small, new team into a fighting threat on every field. The big game of the year came when Southeast met and defeated Crooked Oak. This rival team had not lost a conference game in four years, and the Spartans decided this success had gone on long enough. The result -- Southeast - 6, Crooked Oak - 0. The finest all-round ball game the Spartans played all season was against Yukon. The offensive playing was the best done in any game and the defensive playing measured up equally well. Proof -- the Yukon eleven was held to a minus 32 yards for the whole game. The score stood Southeast 21, Yukon 0 as the half ended. lt was Southeast 33 and Yukon 0 when the final whistle blew.
