There have been several changes in thls group. At the end of the semester Dee Krug replaced Forrest Sulllns who transferred to John Marshall. Flrman Mall took over Bruce Nutr's Metal Work. Hard Scrimmage for a Tough Schedule Football The Southeast Spartans began the fall season with seemingl-y all odds against them. No home practice field, no home stadium, no colors, no name, and but little experience. To balancethis, however, theyhada grim determination to make a creditable showing in every game, and they had All American George Franck to guide them, with the splendid help of Bob Condren and Eugene Dipboye. These three men worked - like Spartans - to develop a small, new team into a fighting threat on every field. The big game of the year came when Southeast met and defeated Crooked Oak. This rival team had not lost a conference game in four years, and the Spartans decided this success had gone on long enough. The result -- Southeast - 6, Crooked Oak - 0. The finest all-round ball game the Spartans played all season was against Yukon. The offensive playing was the best done in any game and the defensive playing measured up equally well. Proof -- the Yukon eleven was held to a minus 32 yards for the whole game. The score stood Southeast 21, Yukon 0 as the half ended. lt was Southeast 33 and Yukon 0 when the final whistle blew. Football The game with John Marshall was the last game for the Spartans and one of the most important for it was to decide the me championship of our conference. The first half will long be 5 A remembered by Southeast loyal fans for the fine playing shown by X the entire team and especially Glen Bateman and J. D. York. The score at the half was i3 - 7 in favor of Southeast. And then came the rains!! And disaster: The ball was too wet for the boys to continue their passing attack. Southeast went JACK SULLINS down in defeat .- ss to 13. This was the :asf gum. for the Fu ck following seniors: J. D. York, Glen Bateman, Bob Harris, Paul Flowers, Tom Jobe, Jack Sullins, Don Dennis, Dan Rutherford, Bob Norfleet, and Gilbert Boswood. J. D. York, Tom Jobe, and Glen Bateman made all Conference.
