Mathematics point: 'Best job possible' We like to do the best job possible for the future so as to give the students the best background for col- lege, was the primary purpose of the Math Depart- ment, as stated by Mr. Doug Fulton, department head. This year, new books, as well as new concepts were presented to mathematic students. The algebra materials leaned more toward calculus while the ge- ometry books were not as rigorous as they had been last year, according to Mr. Fulton. He added that mate- rials for trigonometry were basically the same as they had been in previous years. Aside from Algebra I and II, and Geometry; ad- vanced courses in Analytic Geometry, Principles of Math, and Trigonometry were offered in the mathe- matics department. History studies are diversified The variety of social achievements today and yesterday make it important for students to be informed about different governments and their procedures. Such was the objective of the Social Science Department this year. Seniors held elections for government posi- tions to achieve a better understanding of gov- ernment procedures. While the “politicians'' were at rest, the general functions and policies of our government were viewed and studied. The study of our past and the use of various teaching techniques provided the juniors with valuable material in the United States History course. More law and government recognition was brought out in various courses, including Eco- nomics, Humanities, International Relations, Psy- chology, and Russian History. Mr. lames Powell, B.S.E.
