Phys. Ed Departments Offer Exercise Classes Physical Education classes offered Southeast stu- dents a refreshing period of exercise during the school day. and the departments sponsored competitive in- tramural sports after school. More unusual activities included in the curriculum were modern dance, swimming, fencing, archery, golf, tennis, military drill, and bowling. Industrial Arts All School Project Mechanical Drawing is studied by Mr Ralph Schaudc and one of his students. Mr. Schaudc is also department head. Manual Skills Taught By Ind. Arts Classes Auto mechanics, mechanical drawing, electricity, woodworking, plastics, and metals courses furthered the aptitude of Industrial Arts students. Driver Educa- tion and Auto Information were also offered by the department. Automotive equipment, including a Chevrolet V8. 283 cubic inch engine, an Oldsmobile transmission, a Delco-Remy generator, a regulator, a distributor, starting motor and ignition coil, as well as other spe- cial equipment and tools, were presented to Southeast by the General Motors Corporation in October. Mrs. Frances Wagner head- ed a staff of twelve cooks. They prepared lunch for the population of Southeast, and hired students to aid in the many necessary operations of the cafeteria. In addition to a free lunch, the students received pay- ment. Speeding the work of keeping Southeast spotless, a bright orange Minute Misers delivery cart was uti- lized by Mr. Charles Knight, who directed eight custo- dians and a matron.
