Discussing college entrance requirements and examinations with stu- dents is a primary task of Mr Corwin E. Bare, college counselor. Students Directed By Guidance Counselors Coordinator of the guidance center and college counselor, Mr. Corwin E. Bare conferred with students about aptitude and college entrance examinations, scholarships, and various colleges. He also organized College Night and Career Day. Miss Fanny Thompson, senior counselor, explained graduation requirements to seniors. The junior and sophomore counselors. Mrs. Clifton, and Mrs. Rogers handled new enrollments and IBM cards, while Mrs. Ridgway calculated grade averages. Controlling absences and tardies. Mrs. Herd worked in the Attendance office. As student coordinator. Mr. Dave Leach was in charge of unexcused absences and the parking lot sit- uation. Typing and working at the counter occupied Mrs. M Marsarci Walters Schreffler each day. Mrs. Reiser. Dr. Addis’ correspondent, and Miss Wilke prepared theschool payroll and budget.and also took care of the funds of the various clubs. Mrs. Jcri Burr’s KiiRlish III class is introduced to the available resources of the li- brary by Mrs. Fields. The present M.500 shelved vol- umes in the library will be increased to 60.000 over a period of five sears after the completion of the new li- brary. Mrs. Virginia Fields is the new head librarian this year, replacing Mrs Fmma Seeley, who retired. Mrs. Louise Stevens, clerical assistant, handles the business and finan- cial aspects of the library, as well as checking out lx oks and aiding stu- dents in search of material. Library Plans Approved; Construction Commences Plans for the new Southeast library were completed by January, 1968. Built in the courtyard, the library layout included a ground floor and a mezzanine com- prising conference and typing rooms, team teaching and visual aid equipment rooms, and featuring an air- conditioned browsing room furnished with soft chairs and lamps. Special accouterments planned for were microfilms, tapes, and filmstrips. The library will have a capacity of 60,000 shelved volumes, compared to the 1967 fall total of 14.500 books. The 60.000 volume goal will be achieved within five years. As assistant librarian, Mrs. Mary Wing helps students to locate books and research sources and works Iwhind the desks checking in and out magazines and volumes. 13
