Academics is, of course, the most important function of school. Southeast offers a wide range of courses in many different areas for all students on various learning levels. Modern classrooms and equipment aid the stu- dents in receiving an educa- tion; a climax for some, and a threshold for others.

Principal Responsible For Students, Faculty Responsibility for the student body, faculty, and administration is the primary duty of any high school principal, and Dr. Fred G. Addis, principal of Southeast High School is no exception. He concerned himself with the activities of the school by attending athletic events, drama and music productions, and proved his interest in the students by mingling among them in the halls and cafeteria during school hours. Dr. Addis was particularly busy this year directing the construction of additions to Southeast. The con- struction process forced him. as well ad vice-principal Mr. Budd and Mr. Graham, assistant principal, to move into the Student Lounge until the administra- tors' office was enlarged. Having received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from Wichita State University. Dr. Addis earned his doctor- ate from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Dr. Addis directed the construction of additions to Southeast involving the acreage outside B. C. D. and E corridors, and the center courtyard. During fourth hour. Dr. Addis talked with students in the cafeteria and occasionally aided the cafeteria workers by operating the milk shake machine. 9
