Physical Education Senior Prom Committee Future Teachers Club Girls’ And Boys’ Sports Stress Physical Fitness Physical education classes provide an opportunity for stu- dents to develop physical skills, learn popular sports, and re- lieve the tension of a normal school day. Although gym is only required of sophomores, many juniors and seniors have continued to take advantage of the instruction and facilities ofTercd in both the boys' and girls' department. Both boys and girls enjoy such sports as swimming, soccer, archery, tennis, golf, basketball, volleyball, softball, ping pong, drill marching, and gymnastics. Girls participate in additional activities such as field hockey, modern dance, badmitton, shuffel board, deck tennis, fencing, and bowling, while boys participate in touch football, calisthenics, and wrestling. Both boys' and girls' swimming classes offer Junior and Senior Red Cross Life Saving tests to qualified swimmers. After school girls' intramurals include all sports offered if enough girls are interested to form teams. This year the intra- murals have been expanded to intermurals including such sports as field hockey, bowling, basketball, and volleyball. The intermurals were formed this year to replace the Play Days between schools that were started several years ago. Gymnastic workshops were also started this year to teach students and teachers about gymnastics and the judging of performances. Miss Patricia Christenson. 8.S.
