Sounds Of Construction Echo Through “H” Hall Practical skills and knowledge for a vocational future are offered to both boys and girls in the industrial arts depart- ment including such classes as auto information, auto me- chanics. driver education, electricity, general metals, me- chanical drawing, plastics, pre-engineering industrial arts, and woodworking. From these classes echoed the sounds of construction through H-hall. These sounds ranged from the pounding of metals to the scratching of pencils in mechanical drawing classes. Being able to work directly with cars and materials related to the course gives a purpose and sparked interest in classes. Auto mechanics has old cars to overhaul while driver educa- tion students practice driving 1967 cars. Designing actual buildings is a part of the drawing classes. Other vocational classes work with woods, metals, and plastics. Study, probably for the first time at Southeast, has been the main purpose of study hall, for this year a campaign was launched to stop sleeping during the study hall period.
