For their outstanding seasons, Vince Marino and Timmy Bachand were selected to the Border Conference All-Star team. Marino was also selected to the Central Mass. Tvvo members of the team, and both Juniors. Tina Young and lvllchelle Pytko were selected to the Border Conference All-Star Souad for their outstanding seasons. Tina probably compiled more points in a single track season than any Southbrldge trackster before her as she continually swept three and sometimes four events in a majority of the meets. During the regular season. they would up with e spectacular S and S record playing against very tough competition. They also qualified for District competition and defeated Leicester l-ligh School I3 to 2 in their first round. Unfortunately success came to an end in the next round against defending state champion Algonquin Regional oy the score of C to 5. The teem's final season record, however, was outstanding at S and 4. State Representative Nlarilyn Travinski presented lvlr. Desroches with a proclamation signed by the Governor for his many years of service to the educational community, only one small part of the many good wishes and regards bestowed on lVlr. Desroches on his retirement. One of the many highlights of the day had to be the final moment of graduation day exercises when the Seniors, in a radical departure from tradition and the past, all threw their caps into the air. Then came the hugging and congratulations as the Class of 'l 985, the Class with class , pid their final farewell to each other and to Southoridge High School.
