Highly responsible for the successful team was a solid infield and fine pitching. The outfield had something to be desired in agility, but made up for it in spirit. Peter Hughes, senior co-captain, had his best year, hitting .490 and playing error- less ball on defense. The hard hitting shortstop made such an impression on the scouts that he was signed to a big league contract just two days after graduation. A promising bunch of underclassmen give Coach Santelli hopes of another suc- cessful year in 1970. -QUIK 1'-.X 'A xy' 'i ' 3-MQGA4 ' 4 -...ai '72 5 Short Pete Signs League ii... The theme, Passport to Polynesia , was chosen over many suggestions, and it was generally conceded to have been the most unique prom in the history of Southbridge High. Recognition and gratitude should be given, however, to those members of the decorating committee whose frantic, last-minute efforts and adjustments contri- buted to make the whole event a pleasant one. Teresa Digregorio reigned as Queen of the Prom, and following a Polynesian theme, her escort Peter Hughes was crowned King. ew' 'ol ,, 'W-vs 'X ' 141 1 1 T' I 4 i 'I' f . ,'.' I To The Life Style At Southbridge High Though It Never Made The New York Times . . On the nights of May 16 and 17, 1969, Mr. Mclvlanis and his sixteen member cast succeeded in reviving American melodrama. They brought to the Southbridge High stage an excellent performance of Under the Gaslight. Christopher Clarke and Michelle Iewell were convincing in their lead roles as a Civil War veteran and the Belle of Society. They, plus the other players, were proof that amateurs can give a professional per- formance. 161 ,-f -dz l '4 Ml 4 Q. ,V 0.1m Q1-fayggq ii ,V 'k'a':t8 ini QQ' , T , mr, gl 3 ,V , 1 '24 A . 5 4 1.-'.,. . mc 3, 1 'fx . .gn o . .f.??3'f ' I ,'4l:,ff jf, 'nf i'5'::,,' --my - ,, Af' Q.. - Ag .-,X , If V 1 2 2 -99' ,',:f+?'l c D -'S' fi-i 5-A?f.:', af, Aww. In addition to solos were dance acts and the performance of a five member rock band called the Matchbox, Under the supervision of the faculty committee, this year's talent show proved to be another success.
