By faithful application all students can develop good study habits, the ability to present work in an orderly and logical manner, and a deeper appreciation for modern mathematics' contributions to science and society. Advanced work in elementary logic, functions and the calculus is offered to qualified students. The improvement of logic and critical thinking along with the development of the capability to express both with clarity are the underlying goals of the department. An understanding of histori- cal techniques as well as social and cultural processes and an ac- quaintance with the forces influencing the world and our heritage are the vehicles through which the goal will be reached. Courses are offered in Geography, World History, and Government-Econo mics. Our first ob- jective is to develop a sincere interest in science, so that those who have native ability in the subject matter might choose this as a career.
