The improvement of logic and critical thinking along with the development of the capability to express both with clarity are the underlying goals of the department. An understanding of histori- cal techniques as well as social and cultural processes and an ac- quaintance with the forces influencing the world and our heritage are the vehicles through which the goal will be reached. Courses are offered in Geography, World History, and Government-Econo mics. Their work includes all of the daily little chores, as well as the more significant jobs which make the school run smoothly. Mrs. Catherine Theodoss, secretary for the Guidance Department, aids in the important work of preparing the documents and records needed for college ap- plications and references. On the left, Mr. Montigny takes time to clear up a question posed by one of his office assistants. Hope- fully the next occasion a problem arises, the assistant will be aided by our vice-principal's counsel. 11

rfni l r' ing -ii Our mathematics program provides each student with a selec- tion of courses commensurable with his present computational skills and future occupational needs. By faithful application all students can develop good study habits, the ability to present work in an orderly and logical manner, and a deeper appreciation for modern mathematics' contributions to science and society. Advanced work in elementary logic, functions and the calculus is offered to qualified students.
