Witnessed this sixteenth day of June: Sandra Wielblad - Chairman Louis Berthiaume Nancy DeAngelis Sheila Galligan Marcia Grandone Sylvia Kopas Carolyn Mongeon Gloria Thanas Joan Silvestri THE PROPHECY OF THE CLASS OF 1963 One of our local reporters, Roger Fournier, has iust noted the amazing coincidence in this report of 1980 that the entire Class of 1963 is staying at the new Southbridge Hilton Hotel. Some are attending conven- tions, some are vacationing, and some are employed at the hotel. irresistibly drawn to the hotel, we are greeted by Ro- bot Szczygiel, the august doorman, then Diane Robert, the hotel receptionist. In the foyer, we are delighted to find a portrait of James Bucknam, president of Ford Motor Company. The painting was the ioint effort of Sylvia Kopas and Carol Postemski. The illuminated bulletin board advises us of numerous conventions at the hotel. The Blue Room houses a teach- ers' convention. The elected president, Marcia Dion, home from Europe, called the meeting to chaotic order when with the gavel she smashed the finger of Kathy Ryan the new senior English Teacher at SHS. Gloria Thanas ran to get Young Dr. Maloney and Dr. Jeff Kokoszka, who arrived with their nurses, Norma DiLorenzo and Diane Lacasse. They were followed by X-Ray technician Jane Bachand whose machine was carried by Sam Ricci and David Tully. Bruce Guilbault, SHS Problems of Democracy teacher, called an ambu- lance driven by Tony Trifone and designed by Henry Chamberland. When the ambulance arrived, a riot broke out. Three state policemen, Ronald Berthiaume, Robert Langevin, and Norman Vallee, rushed to the scene to try to quell the mob. Mike Daniels from California and Eddie Brous- seau, instructor of N.R.O.T.C. at Providence College, successfully assisted their fellow teacher into the ambu- lance in spite of the riot. During the course of the riot, Lionel Hebert's candy stand was overturned by Paul LaFleche. Sandra Wiel- blad estimated that the 58962, pieces of candy scat- tered, if divided proportionally among the rioters, would give each one exactly 22-U17 pieces. Government pharmacist Richard Belanger handed out tranquillizers, developed by noted research biologist Pat Szydlik, to calm the crowd. After the riot broke up, elementary school teachers, Marcia Grandone and Peggy Apte, served coffee and dirty candy to the exhausted police- men. When all was calm, Dell Foss spoke on teaching handi- capped children, followed by Sue Schauweker's address to elementary school teachers. The speeches were iudged by Harvard professor Roger Reopel, Vassar dean Janina Swiacki, and history professor at Radcliffe lRoom l12i Judy Polakowski. In the President Grant dining room an engineers' con- vention had iust adiourned and the engineers were milling around their genial host, Gary Karp. Joan Sil- vestri and her exotic South Sea Islanders entertained with the limbo. Famous members of the troop are Sandy Yannacci and George Fournier. Standing in the corner discussing their trans-Atlantic bridge were Paul Racicot and Paul Remiian while their secretaries, Karen Saletnik and Maxine Tetreault, took notes. These four were formulating plans for greater things in the future. During the course of the social hour a fuse blew, and electrical engineers Dave Byman and John Walkinshaw were called out to solve the problem. Louis Berthiaume and Edwin Lach were sent to get a fuse. When the lights came back on, secretary Delvina French reported that her employer Peter Slack, of Super Slack's Engineer- ing Company, was missing. Hotel secretary Yvonne Salisbury called F. B. I. agent incognito Mex Veshia to investigate. House detective Dave Diamond came out of Pat Boucher's gym class to assist. Within minutes, Roland Belanger, while checking out his CD fallout shelter, discovered Peter investigating it with Dave DiGregorio, civil engineer, and John Hill, designer of the shelter, together with their secretaries, Nancy De Angelis, Sheila Galligan and Franny Libuda. They were soon all returned to the convention. Leaving the party, we passed Stanley Szydlik petitioning funds for his first manned flight to Pluto. Further down the hall was Libby Hall doing hand-stands while her en- thusiastic students, Ralph Belanger and Dennis Leo, literally knocked themselves out doing head stands. While doing a back fiip, Fred Sczypien knocked over a table holding both a novel written by Peggy DeAngelis and the Nobel prize-winning essay of Donna Hughes. Before entering the diplomatic suite, we passed a group of stewardesses, Gale Richardson, Sally Spielman, and Gloria Yanka. Having completed a trip around the world recently, they have iust had their hair done at the international beauty salon of Barbara Butler and JoAnne Chouinard. In the diplomatic suite Frannie Holden, recently returned from Madrid, was discussing improving U.S. Spanish relations with his secretary Sue Lango. Connie Thomas, ambassador to the Philippine Islands, had iust tainted. Dr. Richard Spielvogel, surgeon general for the U.S. Government, revived her, aided by his nurses, Carolyn Englehardt and Barbara Glass. linda Miscook was also at the convention, resting from her position as ambassador to Italy. Top nuclear phys- icist Jack Tardif discussed missile developments with Air Force General Ken Carpenter, here from Paris, and Private Steve Pontbriand. Maior Billy Lapointe and Colonel Bill Lariviere have left the group in favor of pas- sive defense. Barbara Mathieu, top retail buyer at Macy's, rushed into the room searching for one of her original dresses. Downstairs in the hotel clinic, oral cancer vaccine was being passed out, The vaccine was developed by George Carmel, reknowned veterinarian, who discovered it while experimenting with the blood of a fiea. Member of the Peace Corps, Colleen Moore, found that the vac- cine is successful in her work. Nurses Diane Morrill and Carol St. Martin were handing out the vaccine to volun- teers Billy Ryan, Fran Allard, and Roger Julian, who plan to use it as propaganda in their business relations. Medical Secretaries Gail Apostola and Carol Burzycki recorded necessary data. Joyce Greene, secretary to a famous cartoonist, at first refused to take the vaccine until persuaded by the well-known psychologist, Connie Cronin. Carolyn Mongeon, social worker, went through Joyce's records and discovered that her abnormally healthy school days were the cause of a mental block. interrupting their social activities, the profitable law firm of VanDernoot and Hurley were in the process of counseling Gordon Muldoon who was in an accident while touring the country in his Corvette. Gordon is suing Sandra O'Brien for the damage done to his car by her twelve Swedish children. Taking notes were Pauline Giroux, Diane Latendress, Audrey Yanka, and Ida Provost, specialist in law. On the bulletin board in the lobby, designed by Randy McClam, various items are posted. Bruce Giovanello has lust been appointed head coach of the Boston Patriots. Stuart Dall has been elected president of the OJ'-, by the Board of Trustees. The Board consists of Bernie Mahan, Frank Piccionni, Doug Blackmer, and Roland Corriveau. Stuart's receptionist will be Connie St. Cyr. Ronald Lomme has lust opened a new branch office of his Real Estate business. l-lead accountant will be Leo Mandeville, and head bookkeeper will be Janet Mac- Donald. ln his other ofiice, he employs Diane Nolan and Peggy Julian as secretaries. George Graham has made history by developing a new type of Graham Cracker - completely without graham flour. Judy Benoit has been appointed head of the VVAF's. Leon Caouette recently completed his 22nd appearance at Carnegie Hall as conductor of the New York Phil- harmonic. S Greg Palmerino lately celebrated the grand opening of his Big Bunny branch in Outer Mongolia. Richard Serdinski has started a new trend with his auto- matic garage. David Johnson's auto body is prosperirig as the world's largest wrecking service. It gets a lot of business from David himself. David Lenti is doing very well with his clothing stores. He is currently selling fur coats to the natives of the Congo. We take a hnal look around the hotel. So having satis- fied out curiosity, we regretfully leave the Southbridge Hilton Hotel. LENDRY Box 209 Forest Park Station Springfield, Massachusetts A MAN PREPARED HAS FOUGHT HALF THE BATTLE. The above quotation is as fresh and true as it was when wise old Cer- vantes-author of Don Quixote-wrote it over 300 years ago. Study and prep- aration for the future have always paid dividends in later years. The academic training you now re- ceive is your preparation for coming battles. Such weapons as English, mathematics, and science will be used constantly to accumulate greater knowledge, to acquire new skills, to earn a living. Much of your success in later life will depend upon how thor- oughly you master your present studies. sim' ' ::- A successful business, too, must pre- pare itself for whatever changes the future may bring. Here at American Optical Company we constantly study and search for new materials, new de- signs, new techniques. Through day- to-day learning and new ideas we have kept abreast or ahead of the times in our field. Our very best wishes go with you who are about to assume you new duties and obligations in life. It is our sincere hope that the future years may hold for you a brimming measure of health and happiness. American Optical c o M PAN Y Since 1833 . ..
