The Mariners were eaffer for a try-out affainst Northport in a non-leaffuc game but weather caused a cancellation. The lcaffue season opened with a home game loss to the league champions Greenport. However, the fol- lowing week the Mariners came to life and sent W'esthampton down to a decisive victory. Against East Islip, the localites again showed explosive offensive power but lost on extra points. Easthampton soundly thrashed the Mariners, but they returned the following week to defeat W'illiam Floyd H.S. in which game all reserves saw action. In a post league game, the archrival Riverhead sent the Mariners down to another defeat. At the close of the season, Steve Vagianos was selected as the All- League 11 center. Sea Spray XYork on the 1959 Sea Spray began last spring and has continued through the vear. Many work meetings have been heldg much. much time and effort on the part of the staH and the advisor have gone into the production. During the mad rush of making out schedules. tak- ing pictures. preparing copv. proofreading. getting ads. and meeting deadlines. we have perhaps neglected to say thank you at some time. This does not mean that we are unappreciative. and we take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped us. YVithout Miss lVeber. our advisor. there would be no book. Her or- ganization of the work and her untiring efforts have been good ex- amples for the staff. The encouragement she has offered and the stimulus she has provided have eased the confusion of our initial attempts and later uncertainties in the book's progress. Sir. Arceneaux's visits have been timelv. helpful. and enjoyable. As our American Yearbook Company consultant. he has visited us regularly and has known just how to iron out each problem that has arisen.
