VARSITY BASEBALL ' 57-58 Southampton completed a successful 1958 baseball season with a record of eight w ' ins and one loss. The leading pitchers were Brantley, Hedgepeth, Bunn, and Dail. Dickersonwas the leadingrelief pitcher, and Bryant w 7 as the regular catcher. Maddrey, Claud, Pope. Dail. Bunn, Rountree, Story, and Stephenson w 7 ere the infielders. Brock. Hedgepeth, Dickerson. W. Futrell, and Fuller carried the load in the outfield. The schedule of fourteen games was cut short by rainy weather in mid¬ season. After the season, SHS laid claim to the District I Group 2 Con¬ ference championship with a record of seven wins and no losses in conference play.
