After winning their next two games, the Indians played another one of the toughest teams in the district. York, who eventually won the district title, furnished Homecoming opposition. The York boys emerged as the winners but Southampton, even in losing, had nothing to be ashamed of; they made a noble effort, possibly the best of the season. The next and last game of the year was with Franklin. The Broncos, arch rivals, and a good team, jumped to an early advantage. This loss followed the pattern of the previous two with the score close enough for either team to win in the final minutes. Placing sixth in the district, the Indians proved, against top-flight competition, to be one of the best teams in the league. . . Coach Davis . . . 49
