This is our dedication to... Miss Moran A Key phrase that describes Miss Sharon Moran ' s life at S.W.Ii.S. is active involvement . For the past twenty-one years she has taught in South Windsor and has been a vital part of students ' lives in the class¬ room and beyond. It is her belief that teaching occurs in all aspects of student activities that makes her list of contributions endless and invaluable. Students look forward to Miss Moran ' s social studies classes where they experience academic challenge in a warm and receptive environment. She encourages her students to examine their society and its history through a lively ex¬ change of ideas and creative pro¬ jects. Active involvement ' ' is a major philosophy at work in Miss Moran ' s classroom when she and her students dress up as world leaders, past or present, for a day in which history emerges from the textbook. This year Miss Moran be¬ came Esmerelda Marcos complete with the black wig and flamboyant costume. As one of the head senior advi¬ sors, Miss Moran makes the culmi¬ nation of the high school years re¬ warding and memorable. Every activity from the first day of senior homeroom to the walk onto stage at graduation carries with it Miss Moran ' s touch. She is dedicated to making each senior ' s last year his or her best. Through her persistent efforts, the bonfire was re-instituted this year, which is just one example of how she is an involved advocate for students. The students at S.W.Ii.S. know Miss Moran as a teacher and advi- , sor who regards them as individ¬ uals with great potential. When re¬ ferring to education she said, ...it is my sincere hope that 1 have played a significant role... . Miss Moran has indeed played a signifi¬ cant role ' ' in the lives of students at South Windsor through her gener¬ ous gifts of time, energy and concern. Miss Moran drifts into a void of thought one day in one of her classes. Miss Moran, that ' s only supposed to happen to students! Smile pretty for the camera! This is the award winning smile, that as students, many of us have come to know. ■■■■■ l a— 20

. 11 1 1 :■ A Boy from Japan Exchange Students Kazuhiko Uemutsu H i, I am an exchange student from Japan. It was September 1st that I met my host fam¬ ily and visited SWHS for the first time. Everything was new and I was very excited and nervous. There are lots of differ¬ ences from school in Ja¬ pan, for example... we can choose lots of subjects here. On the other hand, it took about half a year to be¬ come accostomed to mov¬ ing to classrooms with heavy books in a few min¬ utes. I ' m very glad that 1 could come to SWHS to study and participate in sports, because 1 was able to meet lots of nice and kind friends and teachers. They helped me with study and everyone said hi and talked to me. Some of my friends took me to some places on weekends and told me about their hobbies or families. Also, Homecoming, the pep rally, field trips and etc... have made for won¬ derful memories! I really appreciate that I could share great times with all the students and teachers. Thank you for ev¬ erything. I have had a good time and lots of fun in the U.S.A. Welcome to Japan. I ' ll be very happy to see you again! Good luck to all the students starting at SWHS. Sayonara! Notice the convenient location of Miss Moran. Perhaps one of the next presidential pictures on the wall will be her own. Here we see Mr. Cloutman, Miss Moran, and Mrs.Bickford enjoying the fall pep rally. Now there ' s school spirit. Please rise for the entrance of Judge Moran. Occupation day brought forth the true Judge Wapner in Miss Moran.
