Joanne Pompa for many reasons. The deep admiration we feel exceeds that due a teacher. We trust the woman behind the amicable, and mischievous smile; who leaves behind her a warm and relaxed atmosphere wherever she goes. As a teacher she has instructed us, and presented us with a friendly surrounding in which to learn. We, the senior class of 1982, think this tribute is not only proper and fitting for that which has been mentioned but also because she has become a symbol of good thinking; has helped us to know ourselves; has aided us in assuming our responsibilities on the road ahead; and above and beyond all this, she has become an example of the invaluable lesson of being your own self. i) Individuals, sharing a quiet moment with a friend . . . enjoying some free time ... working in effort . . . a group ViitMr! hilt ' ffWtSnK+h JjattSviekX o JjMnltrlb 1 V«l UUv JA fofyK ■ ! §5 - I Sir. Your soul can go naked with him. He seems to ask you to put on nothing, only to be what you really are. When you are with him, you do not have to be on your guard. You can say what you think, so long as it is genuinely you. He understands those contradictions in your nature that cause others to misjudge you. With him you breathe freely — you can allow your little vanities and envies and absurdities and in opening them up to him they are dissolved on the white ocean of his loyalty. He understands. — You can weep with him, laugh with him, pray with him — through ana underneath it all he sees, knows and loves you. A Friend — I repeat — is one with whom you dare to be yourself.
