Advisor: Mrs. Bianaccuci. MAIN OFFICE ASSISTANTS ATTENDANCE OFFICE ASSISTANTS GUIDANCE OFFICE ASSISTANTS These students voluntarily give up their free periods, to work in the main office. They assist the administration and school staff in various errands and jobs. Advisor: Mrs. Whitlock. 120 LIBRAR Y AIDS These individuals assist the students, the Librarian and the assistant Librarian in the operation of the library. NURSE’S ASSISTANTS These girls report to the Health Room to assist the nurse. Each girl comes on a scheduled basis. The girls aid in providing coverage for the Health office during lunch periods, straightening and cleaning the office, along with a variety of clerical tasks. Advisor: Mrs. Ryan. HOME ECONOMICS CLUB The Home Economics Club is open to all students who have had previous courses in Home Economics. They do various projects and encourage social activity in their department and community. Advisor: Mrs. Niederwerfer. 121 DECA The Distributive Education Clubs of America is designed to develop future leaders for marketing and distribution. Deca members attend competitive con¬ ferences and do individual and group research studies. Advisor: Mr. Myette. AMERICAN FIELD SER VICE The American Field Service is a program of Exchange Stu¬ dents, both to and from our country. The purpose of the student chapter is to aid and assist the Adult Chapter in raising funds. They organize such events as the AFS spa¬ ghetti dinner, AFS fruit sale and various parties. Advisor: Mr. Locario. FBLA This club is offered to all students. The purpose of the Future Business Leaders of America is to develop the qualities of business and civic leadership. These students engage in many important services for the High School. They are involved in ticket sales, selling candy at the basketball games, and acting as guides at open house. Advisor: Mr. Bordonaro. 122 STUDENT COUNCIL The student council serves as the government of the students and acts as a vehicle of communication between them and the administration. The President, a senior, and the Vice-President, a junior, are elected by the stu¬ dent body the year preceding the term of office. The rest of the council is composed of class representatives. MA TH AIDES These students spend varying amounts of time assisting the departments in a variety of ways. CHEERLEADING These ten girls (missing Liz Johnston, Patti Joworski) have given much of their time and ef¬ fort into making this years squad a good one. They have frequent practices after school and attend¬ ed most of the sports events. Ad¬ visors: Miss Kallman, Miss. Sil¬ verman The main idea behind this group is to pro¬ mote school spirit. The members put in time at the school’s sports activities and they also sell banners, pins, ribbons, and other boosters at our home games. Advisor: Miss. Parys. WORLD AFFAIRS CLUB These students participate in a model U.N. Assembly, a trip to the U.N. and in various fund raising projects. Advisor: Mr. Randazzo PEP SQUAD MATH TEAM MEDIA SER VICE SQUAD Media Service Squad is a group open to all students who have free periods during the time which media help is needed. The club consists of maintaining, operating and repairing the schools audio equipment. Advisor: Mr. Schackner. The members of the math team compete regularly in the Capitol Area Mathematics League, and the ATPAC test taken in school. Many of the members have had one year of college algebra. Advisor: Mr. Joy. COMPUTER CLUB The computer club introduces students to the computer in an informal manner. Through ex¬ perience, club members are taught fundamen¬ tals of operating this machine. Advisor.: Mr. Cloutman. 125 OUTING CLUB This club is open to all students in the school. Throughout the year they engage in ski trips, hiking and horse back riding. Advisor: Mr. Rioux. V ; ' NA TIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The Wood Chapter of the Na¬ tional Honor Society is a service organization composed of hand picked junior and seniors. These students are picked on the basis of four attributes; Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Ser¬ vice. Each winter the new mem¬ bers are chosen. The activities of the society include tutoring teach¬ er aides and other various duties during the year.
