Ways in which they assist include providing coverage for the health office during the lunch period, straightening and cleaning health area and equip¬ ment and a variety of clerical duties. Advisor: Mrs. Ryan This club was reorganized to offer an opportunity to students interested in the medical and nursing field to obtain information about health careers. We have met during activety period to organize a field trip, make plans to assist at several community clinics and to discuss opportuni¬ ties available in the health field. Advisor: Mrs. Ryan MEDIA SERVICE SQUAD This group is dedicated to maintaining, operating and repairing the school’s audio equipment. The Media Squad is open to students who have free periods during the time which media work is needed. One- quarter credit toward graduation is given. Advisor: Mr. Olsen LAB ASSISTANTS The main duties of these students are helping the science teachers on the preparations of labs and the upkeep of the equipment. They help at least one period per week, making inventories, washing glassware and helping out with many other tasks essential to maintaining the smooth operations of the science department. LIBRARY AIDS “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.” hese individuals assist the students in the use of the library materials. They also aid the Librarian and ssistant Librarian in the operation of the library. 122 FBLA The purpose of the Future Business Leaders of America is to develop the qualities of business and civic leadership. These students perform impor¬ tant services for the high school, involved in ticket sales, concert band and chorus production, acting as guides for parents at Open House and selling candy at basketball games. To cover the expenses for special field trips and leadership conferences throughout the State of Conn. The club has a fund drive at the beginning of each year. DECA provides students with opportunities for group participation and career study essential to develop leadership qualities. It is the only national youth organization that attracts young peo¬ ple to such careers. Throughout the school year they offer many activities such as hiking, skiing, horsebackriding and the annual trip to Waterville Valley. Through experience, club members are taught the fundamentals of operating the computer. Their projects help to encourage social activity in their department as well as to extend service to the community. Two issues are printed each year consisting of literary articles, ink drawings and black and white photographs. Articles are contributed by the student body and carefully selected by the staff. The band plays at all pep rallies, home football games and June graduation exersises along with many scheduled concerts. Director: Mr. Lazzerini I VOCAL ENSEMBLE Vocal Ensemble is a selected group chosen by auditions. Activities of the group include Christmas, Spring and Pops concerts and many community concerts.
