most (people simply can’t) won’t(most parent people mustn’t shouldn’t) daren’t — e.e. cummings The person to whom the yearbook is dedicated defies the image set forth in this poem. He has dared to be himself, to show us what he genuinely is. We’ve had the privilege to know and be influenced by someone whose humanity and honesty are overwhelming — a man whose determination to act according to his own beliefs will be an inspiration to us always. It has been said that a man’s greatness is determined in part by the impression he leaves on the lives of those who have known him. The effects this man has had on us are magnificent. He has assured us that — as individuals — our uniqueness is sacred. He has made us not only recognize our talents and potential, but also realize that to be happy we must use these to their utmost. He has taught us that to maintain an appreciation of living one must face problems with a smile and a readiness to laugh at oneself. After spending a short time with this man, one exits with greater self-confidence, a brighter outlook and an acknowledgement of his own personal importance. The class of 1976 expresses deep appreciation to Mr. Eric Haffner. 7
