Susan Deschene Lynda Prunier John Rackliffe From “Night” It is your darkness that reveals to us the light of heaven, For the light of day has enshrouded us with the darkness of earth. It is your promise that opens our eyes to eternity, For the vanity of day had held us like blind men in the world of time and space. It is your tranquil silence that unveils the secret of ever wakeful, ever restless spirits; For day is a turbulent clamour wherein souls lie beneath the sharp hooves of ambition and desire. Again this year it was a smash hit. Never before has such acting, talent, and professionalism been seen in a high school play. “Fiddler on the Roof ” is truly a play never to be forgotten. Because of its great success a command performance was presented on Wednesday night April 12th. This is something of which South Windsor can truly be proud. m! . • . Bob LaBreche of South Wind¬ sor has been named the 1972 track coach of the year in Con- BOB LABRECHE fnarh nf Year necticut by the High School Coaches Association, the Journal Inquirer has learned. The Coaches Association, which recently announced the selection of Ellington’s Bob Healy as basketball coach of the year in our state, selects the top coach in 10 different high school sports. LaBreche and Healy will be honored at a Recognition Dinner at the Sheration Park Plaza Hotel in New Haven on Dec. 4. Last year, South Windsor’s Charlie Sharos was chosen the state’s top high school basketball coach. LaBreche led South Windsor’s track team to the Class M (medium-sized schools) state championship last spring. Boasting two outstanding in¬ dividuals, sprinter Jim Trott and weightman Rich White, the Bobcats topped Farmington, 34- 22, to take the M title. LaBreche, who also doubles as South Windsor’s cross country Spp JOINS. Paee 35 40) coach, has been the only running coach South has ever had. He came to South 10 years ago when the high school opened and started the track program. Totally dedicated to his job, LaBreche works long and hard with his trackmen, and has done much to upgrade the athletic program at South. During the winter, he assists Sharos in basketball. A graduate of Hartford Public High School, LaBreche earned a Physical Education degree from Southern Connecticut State College. Last spring, he received his Master’s Degree from Southern, also in Physical Education. LaBreche is married to the former Janice McKenna and they have two children, Robbie, seven, and Lisa, four.
